Newsbox is news to go – pre-packaged, risk free, powerful and very affordable. There are a range of systems you can choose from:

The heart of all Newsbox systems is the editing server based on Quantel sQ and Frame Magic technology. The production workstations (sQ View to sQ Edit Plus) provide instant access to recorded material for shot selection, editing or reviewing finished stories. Each workstation uses a common, progressive, interface which makes training and adding production skills a fast and natural process. To complete the end to end Newsbox workflow the record and playout applications – Q Record and Q Play are included as standard.

Workspace storage is Raid protected with Hot Swappable drives. Further resilience is provides by dual PSUs and the option of a complete redundant playout configuration. The whole Newsbox system itself is covered by a five year support package ensuring the system continues to provide the highest level of production performance throughout its life.

The central intelligence of the Newsbox system is provided by the Integrated Server Architecture manager – ISA. This central control application runs on a dedicated rack mounted PC acting as the service provider allowing journalists, editors, producers and directors instant access to stored server content. The record and playout applications Q Record and Q Play communicate with the ISA to control ingest and on-air playout of material. In a redundant playout configuration a second ISA manager is added to the system to provide auto fail over protection.

To ensure a fast, risk free, installation all Newsbox systems are pre-configured in the factory before shipping to the customer even the network switch is included. The workstation applications are pre-loaded on to desktop PCs, all the customer has to supply are the monitors and keyboards.

The result is a news production system that works out of the box, minimising the commissioning process and enabling operational training to start immediately.

Newsbox is designed to work “out-of-the-box”. Its pre built, pre configured and pre tested, everything is included. All the workstation PC’s are supplied and set up in our factory to guarantee your Newsbox system is “ready to go”.

With Newsbox systems pre-configured on-site commissioning time is greatly reduced compared to traditional system installations. In a matter of hours you’re ready for operational training. Depending on the number of staff to train a Newsbox system can be in operational use in a matter of weeks.

Newsbox is designed to get proven working systems into the hands of journalists and editors as fast as possible with as little fuss as possible. Newsbox is pre packaged Quantel performance from €199K.

Newsbox - support
Take the risk out of support! Quantel solves this in a very simple way – every Newsbox system comes with Five years QCare support as standard, included in the price. Newsbox is designed to make news production affordable and risk free, no hidden costs just a very powerful system that lets you start making news and carry on making news for years to come.

As part of the QCare package you’ll need to have an engineer trained by us. The cost of training two engineers is included in the price - all you pay is the travel and accommodation expenses.

The workstation PCs are fully supported for the first year. PC technology is continually changing and it’s in the customer’s interest to upgrade during the life of the system. You may wish to move the workstations onto a lease arrangement or then can simply transfer the software licences on a workstation by workstation basis to suit their upgrade plans.

Newsbox – operational training

Different users will have different needs but every system is being offered with a 10 day training package. This package is designed around your nominated Super User – the operational expert for the system. This is a costed item. Tailored training packages can also be provided to suit individual specialised requirements.
